UNC System responds to Secretary of Education’s ‘call to action’ on behalf of UNC-CH

“On behalf of UNC-Chapel Hill and its 16 fellow constituent institutions, the UNC System published a 10-page response on Tuesday to U. S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon’s call to action, which asked universities a series of questions about how they will uphold American values.

McMahon’s Aug. 3 letter follows Chancellor Lee Roberts’ announcement in November that he would not sign the Trump administration’s Compact for Excellence in Higher Education. That document asked universities to pledge to free speech regulations and anti-DEI policies, among other stipulations, to earn preferential access to federal funding.”
